Bath time has its own little rhythm. The water is warm, the bubbles are in, and then comes the part every parent knows: lifting a wet, wiggly baby out of the tub and wrapping them up before the next splash. That is exactly the moment a hooded baby towel is made for.
A hooded towel is simply a square bath towel with a small hood sewn into one corner. You pop the hood over your baby's head, fold the sides around them, and carry them off for pajamas. Here is how to choose a hooded baby towel you will reach for every evening, one step at a time.
1. Check the size
A baby towel should be big enough to wrap all the way around, with room to grow into the toddler years. Our hooded baby towels are 30 x 30 inches, a square that folds easily around a newborn and still wraps a little one who is starting to walk. When you compare towels, look for the exact size on the product page so you know what you are getting.

2. Look at what the towel is made of
Towels are made from many different fabrics, so it is worth reading the material before you buy. Ours have a polyester fleece front, which carries the printed design, and a cotton loop back. If you have a preference for a certain fabric, the product page is the place to check, because that is where the material is listed exactly as it is made.
3. Decide whether you want a name on the hood
A name turns a bath towel into something that feels like theirs. Every towel in our shop has a plain hood with your little one's name printed on it, so the print stays on the towel and the name sits right where you see it when you wrap them up. Take a moment to check the spelling before you order. We print the name exactly as you type it.
A personalized towel also makes a sweet baby shower gift, especially when the parents have already chosen a name. Browse all personalized hooded baby towels to find one that suits the bathroom.

4. Pick a print you will enjoy at bath time
You will see this towel every evening, so choose a print that makes you smile. A few ways to start:
- By animal. Ducks for the tub, teddy bears for bedtime, or a whole ocean of friends. See our animal hooded baby towels, with duck, teddy bear, bunny and ocean animal towels.
- By color. Match the bathroom or the nursery with pink, blue, cream or lavender.
- For your little one. Browse our baby girl hooded towels, baby boy hooded towels or gender neutral hooded baby towels.
5. Think about how many you need
One towel is enough to get started. A second one means there is always a clean towel ready while the other one dries or waits for the wash. If bath time happens at more than one home, for example at the grandparents', a towel there saves you packing one every visit.
How to fold a hooded towel
A neatly folded hooded towel is easy to grab with one hand, which matters when the other hand is holding a slippery baby. Here is a simple way to fold it so the hood stays on top:
- Lay the towel flat with the hood at the top and the name facing down.
- Fold the left and right sides in toward the middle, so the towel is about as wide as the hood.
- Fold the bottom up toward the hood, in two or three folds.
- Turn the bundle over. The hood now sits on top, with the name showing.
Folded this way, the towel stacks nicely on a bathroom shelf, and you can see whose towel is whose at a glance.

Taking care of your towel
Each towel comes with its own care instructions, listed on the product page. Following them keeps the print and the name looking their best for longer.
A short checklist before you order
- Is the towel big enough to wrap around your baby, and to grow into?
- Do you like the material listed on the product page?
- Have you checked the spelling of the name?
- Does the print fit your bathroom or nursery?
